Both the school district and
the involved family must be willing to utilize an IEP facilitator or
participate in a mediation.
As a courtesy, the school district along with
the involved family should mutually agree upon the IEP facilitator or mediator,
but this is not a requirement.
The IEP facilitator or mediator
may have separate intake phone conferences
and/or meetings: one with the school district personnel assigned to the case and
the other with the involved family.
